Welcome to Highgrove
Osteopathic Clinic
Our Patients are the heart of our practice.
We offer a high standard of professional care and Osteopathic treatment for a range of conditions.
Highgrove Osteopathic Clinic is a long-standing Osteopathic practice that, for the last 25 years, has been the backbone of Osteopathic healthcare, supporting the residents of Weston and its surrounding towns and villages in maintaining their health and well-being.
We are a team of highly trained, General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) registered Osteopaths, with our practitioners using a combination of hands-on treatments: massage, joint mobilisation, and manipulation, along with movement and exercise advice, lifestyle adjustment ideas and support for all our patients as they journey away from what ails them to a more comfortable and functional state of well-being.
Come for treatment of any joint, back and neck pains, including shoulder pain, tennis/golfers’ elbow, hips, knees, and foot pain. If you have been told you have ‘lumbago’ or’ sciatica’. If you have sustained an injury doing your favourite sport.
If you are struggling and unsure who to see, please get in touch with us and chat with our friendly staff. You are not obligated to book with us, but we could help point you in the right direction. Our clinic provides a warm, friendly, and professional atmosphere where we aim to provide the highest quality of Osteopathic care with you, our patient, at its heart.
Highgrove Osteopathic Clinic was opened in 1998 by our founding Osteopath, Alison Huxtable, who ran the practice for almost 25 years. Following her retirement from Osteopathy in 2022, she continued to run the practice for another year before deciding to retire fully and sell the practice to Sarah Hall, who started work at the practice in 2003.
Who and what we can treat?
Our patients include young, older people, manual workers, office professionals, pregnant women, and sportspeople.
Patients seek treatment for a wide variety of conditions, including back pain, changes to posture in pregnancy, postural problems caused by driving, sitting at a computer, looking after children, the pain of arthritis and some sports injuries.
What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. It works with the structure and function of the body. It is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments, and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.
To an osteopath, for your body to work well, its structure must also work well. So, osteopaths work to restore your body to a state of balance, where possible, without the use of drugs or surgery. Osteopaths use touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, relieve muscle tension, enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and help your body’s own healing mechanisms. They may also advise on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent recurring symptoms.
